Occupational Therapy Services
A Play-based and Child-led therapy approach
Why Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy empowers individuals the skills necessary to perform their job of living or their “occupation.”
Occupational Therapy helps children who have physical, sensory, or cognitive deficits to achieve their developmental milestones and increase their independence for age-appropriate skills. Children with autism and other developmental disorders, such as sensory processing disorders, often struggle to achieve these milestones.

Focused Occupational therapy enhances a child's sensory processing and sensory integration, which improves body awareness, attention, and self-regulation.

Areas of Expertise
Our comprehensive approach encompasses assessment, therapeutic interventions, and adaptive strategies, aiming to optimize individuals' abilities and foster meaningful engagement in daily activities. With a commitment to evidence-based practices and client-centered care, we strive to empower clients to overcome barriers, improve their quality of life, and achieve their fullest potential.
Personalized Strategies
Our therapists utilize collaborative strategies to find practical solutions that can help our clients maintain, regain, or improve their independence and participation in daily activities. At times, these solutions might involve a change in the client’s environment or using different techniques and new equipment.
As part of our collaborative and investigative strategy, our therapists may use and suggest different techniques and/or equipment for heightened endurance and success.
Activity Grading
Our team of trained therapists uses activity grading as a technique to assist our clients in taking part in an activity. By breaking down an activity into more manageable steps, our therapists empower our clients to achieve the desired results with increased confidence with every stage.
Additionally, graded exposure is an added technique that our therapists utilize to focus on the emotional and psychological elements during rehabilitation.
Play-Based Strategies
Our therapists focus on improving hand strength, social skills enhancement, and sensory skills through game or play activities for our clients to complete each day of their therapy. The strategy breaks tasks into small, achievable goals in order to reach larger and holistic goals, such as improving hand strength to ultimately hold a pencil or a spoon.
Our Focus
Our occupational therapy services aim to empower individuals who have Autism Spectrum Disorder, intellectual, neurological, and physical disabilities. OT Services are tailored to the needs of each individual and can include:
1
Fine Motor Skills
Fine motor skills involve the use of the smaller muscles of the hands, commonly in activities like using pencils, scissors, construction with lego or puzzles, doing up buttons, and opening lunch boxes. Developing these fine motor skills is crucial for children’s independence. Occupational therapists help children refine fine motor skills like grasping objects, using utensils, and handwriting.
2
Gross Motor Skills
Gross motor skills involve the larger muscles in the arms, legs and torso. Occupational therapists aid children in enhancing gross motor skills, which are essential to perform everyday functions, such as standing, lifting legs, walking, flexing arms, running, jumping, maintaining balance and sitting upright at the table.
3
Sensory Processing
Our Occupational Therapists play a key role in the treatment of individuals with Sensory Processing Disorder. The treatment goal for children with Sensory Processing Disorder is to develop the ability to receive and interpret information from all our senses, including taste (gustatory), hearing (auditory), smell (olfactory), touch (tactile), sight (visual), body position (proprioception), internal body sensations (interoception), and balance (vestibular) which is primarily controlled by the inner ear.
4
Self-Care Independence
Self-care and daily living skills are essential for a child's independence, enabling them to manage tasks like dressing, grooming, and feeding on their own. Our occupational therapists employ various techniques to promote independence in self-care.
5
Cognitive skill development is an essential component of occupational therapy, focusing on thinking, reading, learning, memory, reasoning, and paying attention.
6
Emotional Regulation
Emotional regulation involves express emotions, understand social cues, and interact with others effectively.
